Secret Places directly at the LAKE | VDV 08/2025
Secret Places directly by the LAKE– Naturresort Drewitz
Nossentiner Hütte- There are places that touch you, where you forget the time, breathe deeply, and truly arrive at yourself. One of these places is the Van der Valk Naturresort Drewitz - a real insider tip amidst the Mecklenburg Lake District, located directly by the tranquil Drewitzer Lake. Surrounded by dense forests and vast nature, relaxation becomes an experience here.
A place to breathe deeply
The Naturresort Drewitz is the perfect retreat for anyone looking to escape everyday life. Here, luxurious tranquility meets natural beauty. Guests enjoy their stay in stylish holiday homes and apartments—surrounded by greenery, with views of the crystal-clear Lake Drewitz. Whether it's walks through the biosphere reserve, relaxing hours on the lake terrace, or a boat tour over the water—the possibilities to unwind are endless.
With the opening of four exclusive suites – "Wilderness Grandeur Suite", "The Green Emerald", "Sunset Loft Retreat", and "Natural Vintage Suite" – the nature resort expands its offerings with high-quality retreats that combine modern design with the tranquility of nature. Each suite impresses with its individual style, noble materials, and a view that highlights the special location directly on Lake Drewitz.
Cuisine at the highest level
A special highlight of the resort is the hotel's own restaurant "THE VIEW," which delights with regional and seasonal specialties. The cuisine relies on fresh local ingredients and interprets traditional dishes with a creative touch.
Starting July 1st, the summer grill buffet was opened - with everything that goes with it: juicy steaks, fresh fish, crispy side dishes, and a relaxed atmosphere by the water. From July to September, the grill buffet becomes a meeting place for gourmets every Friday evening.
For those who love suspense and entertainment, the nature resort offers a varied event program. Whether crime comedy, true-crime dinner with bestselling author Veikko Bartel or a burlesque dinner full of elegant dances - each event is an experience in itself. Particularly atmospheric: the nostalgia dinner with singer Herr Könnig, who musically transports guests to the 1920s to 1940s.
Variety of events for every taste
But the nature resort has more to offer than just culinary delights. For those seeking inner peace, a yoga session on the Lake SPA Terrace will provide new energy. On August 24th, our terrace with lake views transforms into an oasis of mindfulness - accompanied by professional guidance and the soothing atmosphere of the water. This experience of tranquility and mindfulness can also be continued in 2026 when we invite you to our fasting days. You can choose between the two proven arrangements "Base Fasting by the Lake" and "Buchinger Fasting by the Lake," which specifically detox the body while strengthening inner balance.

TUI Environmental Champion | 07/2017
Award for high environmental and social standards TUI Environmental Champion for Van der Valk Nature Resort Drewitz
Drewitz/Nossentiner Hütte. Once again, there is reason to be happy at the resort on Lake Drewitz. This is because the news about receiving the TUI Environmental Champion 2017 award has arrived there in recent days.
With this award, the organizer has been honoring hotels annually since 1996 that particularly commit to environmentally friendly and socially responsible hotel management. This can be done in various ways, such as by helping the hotels save electricity and water, waste to
avoid or reuse wastewater, but also by involving the local population, for example by using regional products or employing many locals.
To receive the coveted award, hotels must meet two criteria. Firstly, they need a valid sustainability certificate recognized by the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council). Secondly, at least 80% of TUI guests must express satisfaction with the hotel's environmental commitment, as indicated in the relevant guest questionnaires.
Only slightly more than 200 hotels worldwide were currently able to meet these requirements and can now call themselves TUI Environmental Champion 2017. Against this backdrop, they are particularly proud of the renewed award in Drewitz, according to Operations Manager Martin Krüger.

Travelife Award for the Van der Valk Naturresort Drewitz
Sustainability certificate awarded for the first time to the resort at Drewitzer Lake
Drewitz/Nossentiner Hütte. Shortly after confirmation of the successful reclassification as a 4-star hotel by DEHOGA MV, Van der Valk Naturresort Drewitz can celebrate another award. On March 6th, the news of receiving the Travelife Silver Award arrived there.
Travelife is a worldwide initiative founded in 2007 that is committed to sustainable developments in tourism by helping tourism companies on their path to greater sustainability. The focus is on the environment and people, starting from the guest, through the employee to the supplier.
As part of a multi-stage certification program and based on a comprehensive catalogue of criteria that includes international standards and guidelines (such as ISO 14001 –
Environmental management) integrated, businesses can evaluate, document, and communicate their previous sustainable achievements. At the same time, they are empowered for environmentally friendly and socially responsible business management. At the final stage of the certification process, compliance with international Travelife standards is checked by an independent assessor during an on-site audit and, if applicable, certified with a bronze, silver, or gold status.
Leading tour operators such as TUI or Thomas Cook are already using the Travelife system for accommodations. This allows them to assess accommodations based on specific criteria such as energy efficiency, waste and water management, as well as factors like health and safety, relationships with locals (regionality), or fair business practices.
The Travelife Award is valid for 2 years. During this period, certified companies may communicate their exceptional achievements in sustainability to their customers and other stakeholders using the Travelife Premium logo.

Your excursion destination directly at Drewitzer Lake | 08/2013
Still known to most as the hunting residence of the former head of state and party of the former GDR, or later as the nature park residence or even as the Naturresort Drewitzer See, the idyllic estate in the Nossentiner-Schwinzer Heide has been owned by the Dutch family business Van der Valk since 2009.
In search of a viable concept, the owner found a strong partner in TUI, and since May of this year, under its young, nature-connected brand VIVERDE, the gem at Drewitzer Lake has been welcoming guests. No expense or effort was spared to meet the concept of environmentally conscious and sustainable tourism and, accordingly, the expectations of the guests.
Now, after a long, busy winter of 2012/2013, they can look forward to elaborately renovated holiday homes, a modern and cozy restaurant, and a new swimming pool with a real feel-good atmosphere. Gradually, progress continues; the renovation of the sauna and wellness area has already been initiated.
The facility with its amenities is not only open to overnight guests. Rather, it is intended to serve as an excursion destination, offering locals the opportunity to unwind by the Drewitzer Lake during a "short vacation." Whether in the restaurant, where chef Christian Höfs impresses with fresh regional and international cuisine featuring herbs from the in-house herb garden, at the swimming pool, or at one of the numerous events.
Maybe you also feel like discovering this once-secret place anew? Then just stop by. The restaurant is open daily from 12 - 9 PM. Tip: Make it a nice Sunday and let yourself be pampered by the Viverde Mecklenburgische Seen team at a late summer brunch on September 8th from 11 AM - 2 PM. A beautiful view of the Drewitzer See is free of charge. Further highlights of the year, more info and booking atTel. 039927-7670orwww.MecklenburgischeSeen.de.

Punctually for the open house day, the doors of the newly renovated swimming pool at Viverde Mecklenburg Lakes opened for the first time. This adds another attraction to the facility, which opened in May as the first Viverde Hotel in Germany. Guests mainly praised the modern design and special atmosphere. The swimming pool is available to overnight guests free of charge and to other interested visitors for a small entrance fee. The next step is the redesign of the sauna and wellness area, which is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.

Top Hotel Family Cup | 11/2011
The Van der Valk Nature Resort at Lake Drewitz (Mecklenburg Lake District) has been awarded the "Top hotel Family Cup." For this occasion, the Landsberg Leisure Publishing invited representatives from business and politics, hospitality, tourism, and further education to the Nürburgring. The 4th edition of the publication "Selected Family Hotels for Well-Being" describes over 50 establishments in Germany, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland, whose well-being qualities have been thoroughly tested by independent expert authors. The jury stated: "The magnificent nature of the resort at Lake Drewitz, in the midst of the Nossentiner Schwinzer Heide, has been consistently and impressively integrated into the leisure program by those responsible. The children are on the move as environmental detectives with magnifying glasses and tweezers to examine plants and animals more closely; with the 'herb witch,' they prepare, for example, toothpaste from self-collected plants or embark on a family rancher tour through the Drewitz Forest with the district forester. Anyone who understands how to bring nature closer to families and especially to children in such a likeable and playful way deserves the 'Family Cup 2011' in the category 'Leisure Program'."
A pearl in the middle of nature | 10/2011
Embedded in one of the most beautiful natural landscapes of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern at the foot of the well-known Drewitzer Lake, lies the 14-hectare holiday resort managed by Van der Valk Hotels & Restaurants since October 2009. Situated in the middle of the forests of the Nossentiner - Schwinzer Heath, surrounded by numerous lakes and rivers, the uniquely idyllic holiday resort offers a unique nature and vacation experience.
Incidentally, the Drewitzer See Resort is probably the most well-known property in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. On the occasion of Erich Honecker's 70th birthday, the then head of the East German State Security, Erich Mielke, commissioned the construction of a guest house for around 40 million East German marks. A legend even claims that the current Autobahn 19 makes a big detour here so that Honecker could enjoy his peace. The main building still stands today. The only reminder of Honecker, who had the forest closed off for his hunting as late as the autumn of 1989, is his carriage with which the state and party leader went hunting. In place of the houses for the Stasi guards, who faced angry demonstrators in October 1989, there are now charming holiday homes. But that’s not the only reason the area was particularly protected during the GDR era, where even then no motorboats were allowed. As the Drewitzer See has no above-ground inflow or outflow, it is only fed by lime-rich groundwater. Its low nutrient content resulted in an unusual community of plant and animal species. Furthermore, the lake is one of the cleanest and clearest bodies of water in Germany.
When you come to Drewitz today, you will find an open gate. A perfect vacation spot to literally let your soul dangle and forget the stress of everyday life. Not only are 22 stylish and modern holiday homes, 26 holiday house halves, and 5 suites in the main building of the resort part of the reason for this. The resort is also a small world of experiences, as the abundance of leisure opportunities shows. Wellness enthusiasts can not only use a small swimming pool, sauna, and solarium but also choose from a variety of beauty treatments and massages. But the resort also offers a lot for active guests. The "Sunshine Club" ensures this with a comprehensive sports and leisure program. From Nordic walking, nature and adventure hikes, to water gymnastics. Especially the youngest guests get their money’s worth here. In the main building, there is a cozy à la carte restaurant and a large outdoor terrace with a breathtaking panoramic view over the Drewitz lake and forest landscape. An unforgettable experience for guests is also a stay at the popular boathouse, which is located directly on the lakeshore. This is also a reason why it is a much sought-after place for celebrations and events.
